1970 Basketball gallery

The year is 1970 and we are freshmen at Central Junior High.  Over at the high school, something special is developing.  The boy's varsity basketball team travels to the district tournament in Troy.  During a two week period, the team win five consecutive games and are crowned district champions.  The entire city of Fairborn catches Flyers fever.  The following week, the team and thousands of supporters will travel to Cincinnati where the Flyers will upset a favored Cincinnati Moeller team.  The following night in front of 12,000 fans the Cinderella story finally ends when the eventual state champion Chaminade overpower the Flyers.  In recognition of their outstanding season, the team will be inducted into the Fairborn City Schools Athletics Hall of Fame on January 14, 2017.
